Imagine how things happen within seconds! Imagine how change comes within a twinkle of an eye.

Imagine the pleasant change of having the first female take over the leadership of Rotary International District 9110 as the 42nd District Governor. Historic as it is in our district, it is more historic having Jennifer Jones assume the leadership of our organization after 117th year of founding Rotary.

On that note, I heartily welcome you all to the Imagine Rotary year.

How beautifully structured Rotary is as an organization! This same period last year, precisely on 1st July 2021, the Immediate Past District Governor, Rotarian Remi Bello, FCA gave his maiden address. In what appeared like days, he started his district leadership journey and breasted the tape gloriously and gallantly with outstanding achievements and legacies left behind, like a real change maker, he made strategic changes, envisioned, and charted a course for Rotary District 9110. His achievements were recognized and publicly acknowledged by PRIP Shektar Mhetar at the Houston convention.

District 9110 is now occupying an enviable position both regionally and globally. As rotarians, what we owe ourselves is to sustain the tempo and continue to improve on our past good performances.

According to Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, we must ADAPT AND RETOOL’.

The work has started, and I invite all Rotarians to come along and do Rotary business with greater commitment and rededicate ourselves to more selfless service. Rotary cannever have enough membership; therefore, membership attraction will continue to be the business of all of us. Our slogan shall be RETAIN ALL, ADD MORE (RAAM)

As we begin the year today, there are programs lined up to kick off the year. They are the:

A. Launch of D9110, GLOBAL ROTARY RADIO to afford clubs the opportunity of telling the stories of their Rotary activities to the whole world. I shall be on air on our Radio station this afternoon.
B. Launch OF POLIO PLUS SOCIETY (First District in Nigeria) to increase our contribution to the PolioPlus.

You are invited to be part of both events taking place at the Rotary Centre today at 9.30am.

Fellow Rotarians, let’s do it together again and IMAGINE ROTARY our dream.

There’s a great line in a song from the Broadway musical “Rent”:

Five hundred and twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes.

How do you measure a year in the life?

We have only 365 days of 525,600 minutes to accomplish our goals for the 2022-2023 Rotary year.

Today 1st of July, the clock starts ticking. How do we use these minutes?
