The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Rtn. Ifeyinwa Ejezie has called for donation to The Rotary Foundation, the foundation arm of Rotary International.

District Governor Ejezie made the call while giving her opening remarks at the annual Rotary Foundation fundraising dinner event held on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

The District Governor who revealed that the month of November every year is set aside and dedicated to The Rotary Foundation in the Rotary calendar during which different kinds of activities are carried out at the club level and at the district all aimed at creating awareness and to deliberately raise funds for the foundation, stated that the foundation dinner is like the climax of it all for the month.

Describing The Rotary Foundation as the heartbeat and engine room of Rotary without which Rotary cannot function optimally, the District Governor stated that just like engines, the foundation requires “continuous oiling by means of contributions and donations”.

“Forums such as this is where we invite our partners, guests and friends to come and support the foundation through donations so that Rotary International and Rotarians all over the world can continue doing projects and rendering services to impact lives positively in our different communities and around the world. It is only possible because of the donations to the foundation”, she said.

Soaking further, she said, “Besides polio eradication, there are so many other significant projects ongoing like the $2million malaria eradication project in Zambia, the maternal and child health project of over $400million in Nigeria and so on are only possible because of The Rotary Foundation. The various peace and conflict resolution/prevention universities program being funded all over the world is from The Rotary Foundation.

She rounded off her speech by calling on individuals and corporate organizations to donate generously to The Rotary Foundation so that all the good works and impactful projects carried out by Rotary will continue.

Rotarian Guest Speaker, Past District Governor, Rotary International, District 9142, Rtn. Ijeoma Pearl Okoro also spoke on ‘Understanding and Supporting The Rotary Foundation’ and this was immediately followed by the fundraising proper.

Supporting PDG Okoro in the fundraising proper was Past Rotary International Vice President, Rtn. Yinka Babalola.
