The grand finale of the inter-secondary schools quiz competition organized by Rotary Clubs of Gbagada South, Gbagada, Ikorodu Metro, Maryland, Onigbongbo, and Akute in conjunction with Lagos State, Education District II held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
This quiz competition project which falls under Rotary’s ‘Youths Service’ area of focus started in 2017/2018 Rotary year by Rotary Club of Gbagada South with exercise books and mathematical sets distributed to the participants as prizes.
Last Rotary year, the prizes were upgraded to laptops, iPads, and android phones.
At the end of the exercise, Eva Adelaja Senior Grammar School came first, Lanre Awolokun High School came second, while Government Senior Model College came third.
Other schools that participated included Kosofe Senior College, Government Senior Model College, Ajegunje Senior High School, Ogudu Senior Grammar School, Ipakodo Senior Grammar School, Community Senior High School, Wasimi, Jagunmolu Girls Senior High School, and Ojota Senior High School.
The three participants that represented the school that emerged first position got one iPad each, second position also got one iPad each, while the third position got one android phone each. The other participants also got exercise books.
The exercise was well attended by the District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Rtn. Ifeyinwa Ejezie, the District Executive Secretary, PAG Tayo Adelaja, as well as four presidents from the collaborating clubs- Rotary Club of Gbagada South’s Hope President Ezekiel Balogun, Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metropolitan’s Hope President Ashamu Idris, Rotary Club of Maryland’s Hope President Victor Anosike, and Rotary Club of Akute’s Hope President Benedict Ajike.
Also present was a representative of Education District II, Mrs Adeyemo Busayo.
