Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa, District 9110 has provided quick first aid response for pupils and staff of Olusosun Primary School in Oregun, Lagos, Nigeria with the donation of a fully equipped sick bay.
 
 
The sick bay donation was supported by renowned pharmaceutical company, May and Baker Nigeria Plc which donated all the pharmaceutical products in the sick bay. The facility was commissioned by the District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Rtn Ifeyinwa Ejezie alongside the Club President, Sola Ayanwale on Friday, August 18, 2023.
 
The District Governor in her remarks, described the project as a very important one “This sick bay will not just serve this school, but also most of the schools within this locality. At times, when the students come to school, they take ill, and when they take ill, the parents may not be close by, it will take some time before you can reach out to the parents to come and pick the child.
 
“Sick bay is something every school should have so that there will be a nurse or a doctor to take care of the child before the parents arrive”, she said.
The Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Fagbemi Funmilayo thanked the club immensely for coming to their aid. She revealed that whenever a child falls ill in the school, they will have to rush the child to the nearby health centre,

“With this sick bay in the school now, our children can get quick first aid treatment”, she said.
The club also organized a computer training programme where 30 pupils of the school were equipped with computer skills.
The Computer trainer in the school was enrolled by the club on a computer training program to further enhance his skills so as to enable him teach the pupils better.
 
The club seized the opportunity of the District Governor’s presence to take her through the previous projects the club had carried out in the school in just its four years of existence such as fully equipped ICT centre, vocational training centre and fashion designing class fully equipped with sewing machines of different kinds.
 
The Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa Vocational Training Centre established by the club in the school also provides training in soap making, hand bag making, among others. Products made by the pupils in the different vocational training classes were displayed and showcased to the District Governor and everyone present.
