The system was formally presented to the hospital on Monday, July 17, 2023 by the District Governor, Ifeyinwa Ejezie alongside the Club President, Rotarian Funsho Gbogboade and some other members of the club including Past District Governor, Dr. Kamoru Omotosho.

The club had in the 2021-22 Rotary year, donated a blood bank to the hospital which was commissioned by the then District Governor but has not been put to effective use due to irregular power supply. This prompted the Commissioner of Police in charge of the hospital, Nkechi Eze to reach out to Rotary club of Ikoyi for support.

The District Governor who was accompanied by District Treasurer, Rtn Alex Ajibo and her Personal Assistant, Dr. Laurine Ubanozie commended the club for responding promptly to the Police Commissioner’s call. “We are happy to know that with this, more lives will be saved”, she said.
The Commissioner of Police while receiving the solar system stated that she was amazed at how speedily the Rotary club of Ikoyi responded to her request. She assured the club that the hospital will use the facility judiciously and save as many lives as possible.

The club thereafter proceeded to have a board meeting with the District Governor after which other members of the club also met with the DG during the club fellowship.
