Rotary Club of Lagos Palm Grove Estate on Sunday, August 2, 2020 played host to Rotary International President Elect, Shekhar Mehta as he enlightened members of the club and their guests on how ‘Rotary Opens Opportunities’.
 
 
The virtual meeting which was coordinated under the lead of Past Assistant Governor Ramesh Biswal, had an extended ‘AUGUST’ guest list which includes leaders in Rotary who motivated and encouraged the audience. 
 
The evening commenced with an address by the President of the club, Chandra Nalode who welcomed all participants and guest speakers.
 
Also joining members of the club was the District 9110 Governor, Bola Oyebade who welcomed the Rotary International President Elect to the meeting and enjoined all present to enjoy the teachings and pick pointers that would assist in developing the club.
 
The President Elect then took the floor and spoke on the Topic- “Rotary Opens Opportunities”. He opened up a new dimension and told us how to open up for opportunities by FRIENDSHIP, LEADERSHIP, USING OUR VOCATION, and by bringing PEACE to the world.
 
Past District Governor Tunji Funsho also participated in the meeting as he gave a talk on Polio, its eradication and the need for Rotarians to ensure that polio does not re-surface in Nigeria.
 
Past District Governor Olugbemiga Olowu also contributed his quota by educating the audience on how to access grants and also encouraged all attendees to ensure that clubs execute life changing projects.
 
Words of appreciation was given by the District 9110 Governor Elect, Remi Bello while the vote of thanks was done by the President Elect (PE) of the club, Kole Jagun.
 
 
The event was moderated by PE Jagun and Assistant Governor Pradeep Pahalwani who is also a Toast Master.
The “New Normal” indeed brought people across the globe together as we had Rotarians in attendance from over 15 districts of India, Singapore, Pakistan, Malaysia and Jamaica, and over 20 clubs in Districts in Nigeria.
