The 10th day of November, 2019 was indeed a Sunday to remember for the children and management of Compassionate Orphanage Home in Igando road, Lagos state as members of Rotary Club of Egbe stormed the home with donations.

“It is a good thing that you decided to be father to the fatherless and mother to the motherless. It is only God that will reward you but we will do our own bit to support you”, DG Akeredolu

Food items and toiletries were donated to the home by the club. The club also made a financial donation to the home and the cheque was presented by the club president, Alayande Taofiq to the Administrative Manager of the home, Mr. Goldman Kalu.

Also present at the donation exercise was the District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu who addressed Mr Kalu saying, “It is a good thing that you decided to be father to the fatherless and mother to the motherless. It is only God that will reward you but we will do our own bit to support you.”

Mr Kalu while appreciating the club, disclosed that there are a total number of 51 children in the home. He also disclosed that the children are brought to the home by the local government. He however stated that while some of the children can be adopted, some of them cannot.

“There are different reasons that brought them here. Some of them were abused and their matter is still in court while some of them were picked from the streets and investigation is ongoing to see if their parents or family can be located so those ones cannot be adopted.

After the donation exercise, the club members led DG Akeredolu to the club’s meeting venue for the board meeting and club fellowship during which two new members were inducted into the club by the District Governor.
